"diet villain" ALERT: POPS (dehydration)

We are your "fitness superheroes" SUPER FIT DIVA and Paw–ready to EXPOSE, ATTACK and DEFEAT the "diet villains" in your life! In fact we were designed to teach and coach you through the entire MY DIVA DIET program and encourage you to take charge of your bodies as you wage war against the true diet enemies!

From time to time, we will EXPOSE a new "diet villain" and give you INFORMATION – NOTES – RULES.

This will help you attack and defeat them!

They say, "a picture is worth a thousand words"! Our illustrations (diet villains) are visual aids for you to see the effects of certain lifestyle habits (diet and exercise)! We want to make certain you take notice so you will be more empowered to conquer these malicious enemies and WIN the battle for health and fitness–to attain a lean, healthy, fit, and more functional body–for life.

FEATURED "diet villain"
POPS: Dehydration from drinking too little water and too many bad fluids like soda and other sugary drinks.

Information:
Water is essential for life–it makes up about two-thirds of a person's body weight and is the second most important nutrient next to oxygen. We can live without food for weeks, but only a few days without water. Drinking plenty of water stand alone as the best thing you can do for your body.

Notes:
  1. Water is critical to good health.
  2. Water is necessary for nearly every bodily function, including circulation, digestion, absorption, excretion, and nutrient distribution to all cells.
  3. Adequate amounts of water are vital to lung function; mitigate high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, obesity, diabetes, asthma, gastrointestinal problems, hiatal hernias, headaches, angina, allergies, and constipation; prevent kidney stones; and slow aging.
  4. Lack of water can affect our weight-loss efforts.
  5. Most of us retain water because we do not drink enough water.
  6. We mistake thirst for hunger, so we eat instead of drinking water.
  7. Dehydration not only has health consequences but also affects our mood and can make us lethargic, making it impossible to exercise and eat correctly.
  8. Thirst cannot always be relied on as the best indicator of water requirements. If you're thirsty, you're probably already dehydrated.

Rules
  1. Supply your body with enough water each day and you will reap the rewards of health, vitality, energy, great skin, appetite control, reduced fat and bloating, and much more.
  2. Drink an average of eight to ten cups of water each day (depending on your body weight).
  3. You may need more water if you are exercising, drinking coffee or other caffeinated drinks, taking medications, and/or consuming alcohol.
  4. It's best to drink room-temperature water–iced water can delay digestion if consumed with a meal.
FYI
Drinking bottled water is probably better than drinking tap water.
Another option is tap-water filtering system, which is less expensive than bottled water.

In previous posts we have exposed three of the 18 "diet villains" found in MY DIVA DIET: A Woman's Last Diet Book. Here is a recap.
  • Dr. Pill: Using and pushing diet and weight-loss drugs.

  • Nurse Gimmick: Using every "quick-fix" diet plan and gimmick weight-loss diet book, program, and product.

  • George Gotta Go: Exercising obsessively, using steroids and other performance enhancing drugs, and abusing so-called "body-altering" drugs, whether synthetic or natural.

Twitter or not to Twitter? That is the Question.

I DO twitter but am still not quite clear on its use and the benefits!  In fact, when I first starting using twitter my thought was "who cares what I am doing right now"! As I write this post, I am researching and came across an interesting blog by Darren Rowse that you will find interesting too!  I started to twitter back in October and currently have 794 followers.  I mainly use it to give tips and information about diet and health, to network and learn about others, and to promote my book MY DIVA DIET:  A Woman's Last Diet Book.

I do like the fact that twitter is done in real time and there is a limited number of characters, especially when you don't have allot of time to read an entire blog let alone a website.  I have to admit, it is kind of creepy to communicate with TOTAL STRANGERS, but I have met some interesting and exciting people on twitter.

That brings me to a Ivan Nikolov, someone I met on twitter and he decided to take a look at MY DIVA DIET:  A Woman's Last Diet Book. Ivan is a natural bodybuilder, personal trainer, website owner, developer of nutrition software, and more.  To learn more about Ivan click here for his bio.

Here is what Ivan had to say:
QUOTE:    "Just recently I started showing up on twitter (I felt like I was one of the last people to start using it!!), and there was a lady, a personal trainer and accomplished competitor, that approached me to ask me to check out her book.  So reluctantly, I headed over to her website (www.MyDivaDiet.com) initially thinking I will only glance at it since it most likely is one of the self-made, semi-amateur books, written by one of the thousands of fitness professionals, who all have a secret diet or exercise program.  To my surprise, I actually spent a good chunk of time on her website. The reason: What she gathered in her book became evident, it was pretty much the real thing–the way things are, and it's exactly what I'd say if I were to write a book on the same topic.
It teaches a proper way of living!  Here are a few bullets she wanted me to share (and if I were to tell someone what the book is about):
  • IT IS FOR WOMEN ONLY–A more precise method of dieting.
  • IT WORKS–A proven fat-loss system that improves health.
  • IT'S NOT A QUICK FIX–It is healthy, safe and life-long.
  • IT'S A WORKBOOK–Highly interactive.
  • IT ADDRESSES THE ROOT CAUSES of high body fat and poor health.
  • IT GIVE ALL THE TOOLS to ensure your fat-loss success.
  • IT USES SUPERHEROES to expose, attack, and defeat the true "diet villains".
Anyway, I thought I'd share this with you.  Chat with you soon -I"

Weight-Loss Recipe: Diva Tacos Go Military!

It is with great pleasure to announce a cookbook by Lisa Edwards of MilitaryMomz.com! "This is a color cookbook of recipes from families and friends of soldiers all over the Unites States. Pictures of some of our brave men and women are included.  A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Soldier's Angels!   Check out Military Momz Blog and WAHM Addicts Social Network!

I am so honored that they have put our "Diva Turkey Tacos" in their cookbook! The "Diva Turkey Tacos" recipe can be found in MY DIVA DIET:  A Woman's Last Diet Book and is one of my favorites but I will post it here for you today!

Diva Turkey Tacos
  • 1/2 lb. lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 tsp. red crushed chili pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. peppercorn melange
  • 1/4 tsp. roasted garlic–sea salt blend
  • 3 sprouted corn tortillas, warmed
  • non-stick cooking spray
Preparation:  Spray a skillet with non-stick spray and start cooking ground turkey on medium heat.  When halfway cooked, add chili pepper, peppercorns, and roasted garlic–sea salt blend. Constantly stirring, continue another 5 minutes or until done.  Spoon 1/3 of turkey meat into one warm sprouted corn tortilla.

Makes 3 Servings (3 tacos)
Nutritional Value:  1 taco =
  • 160 calories
  • 16.5 g protein
  • 11.5 g carbs
  • 5.5 g fat
  • 1.5 g fiber
  • 221.9 mg sodium
Notes:  Topping the tacos with cilantro, onions, lettuce, and tomatoes adds few calories and lots of good nutrition.  A handful of kidney, pinto, or black beans adds fiber.  Topping with 1/4 avocado or light cheese adds about 7 grams of fat.  Sour cream adds another 3- 5 grams of fat. Try to choose one or the other–not all three (avocado will be the healthier choice)!

MY DIVA DIET Making Its MARK!

Hello all.  It really amazes me how the MY DIVA DIET "mission" is getting around!   Eventually we will embark on a major marketing campaign–in the meantime, we are making our MARK!
Press Release

Thanks to the following:
Great Book to get too -- "What Would Jesus Eat?"

**On a side note: Check out this old clip of American Gladiators
My past competitive days have come to my attention again!  An old acquantance has written a book too!  Dan "Nitro" Clark has just released his book called "Gladiator:  A True Story of Roids, Rage, and Redemption". I can't wait to get my copy–Dan is awesome!
Here is a photo of Dan (Nitro) with my daughter Nicole (she was 7 here and is now 27), when I was a contestant on American Gladiators back in 1990!  Guess that dates me!

I am so glad to see Dan is speaking out about "steroids" and how bad they are!  This is a perfect opportunity to introduce you to another "diet villain" that I have waged war against–there are 18 in my book!  George Gotta Go–steroids and other "performance enhancing drugs"!

Although I never took steroids or other drugs (even diet) when I was competing,  I did know some that did!  It was awful to see the side affects and
I wonder how they are doing now?

The effects of steroids include:
Serious and long-lasting:
  • premature or hair loss
  • dizziness
  • mood swings; including anger, aggression, and depression
  • delusions
  • paranoia
  • problems sleeping
  • nausea and vomiting
  • trembling
  • high blood pressure
  • aching joints
  • greater change of injuring muscles and tendons
  • jaundice; liver damage
  • urinary  problems
  • shortening of final adult height
  • increase risk of heart disease, stroke, and some cancers
TEENAGERS BEWARE:  There are also certain risks that are specific to girls and boys and their sexuality (check out this website to learn more)  TEAN HEALTH "Are Steroids Worth the Risk?

For more details on the effects of steroids see this website Peel Public Health

Stay tuned–more to come on the MY DIVA DIET mission!

A Huge Thanks–To the People that Have Supported the MY DIVA DIET Mission

MY DIVA DIET:  A Woman's Last Diet Book is more than a book–it is a program with a mission–E.C.L. =  Empower–Challenge–Legacy.  The MY DIVA DIET Mission is to empower women so that they can get into great shape, to challenge them to be better women,
and to ensure a legacy of good health for the next generation.  As the superhero of this mission, I want to help you expose, attack and defeat the "diet villains"
-today we will focus on two, Dr. Pill and Nurse Gimmick!
As SUPER DIVA, my mission includes saving WOMEN from the prevalent "dieting madness" and help them understand that losing fat shouldn't include:
  • Confusion
  • Deprivation
  • Starvation
  • Unbalanced Nutrients
  • No Carb Diet
  • One Type of Food Diet
  • One Meal Per Day diet
  • Liquid Diets
  • Fake Foods
  • Diet pills
  • Magic potions
  • And any other quick-fix solutions
If you find and use these type of systems you will only reap the following:
  • Poor Health
  • Dehydration
  • Loss of LBM
  • Decrease in Energy
  • Loss of Sanity
  • Bad Moods
  • Yo' Yo' Dieting
  • Body Fat will Increase
  • Bad Example for our Children
Together we can stop the cycle of ignorance, confusion and desperation in the area of dieting for weight loss.  We can learn how to lose weight, the safe, healthy and lasting way, and then we can pass this on to our children (something that is so dear to my heart)!  That way we can make certain our children avoid the needless pain and insanity we may have encountered or witnessed!   Our children deserve BETTER!

We began our journey of promoting this mission and the  MY DIVA DIET:  A Woman's Last Diet Book in September of 2008.  It is now February 2009, and we have had many join us on this adventure.  I have had the pleasure of communicating with many wonderful people through e-mails, blogs, websites, and in social networks.  Some of you bought the book,  some added us to your site, some blogged about it and so much more–ALL getting the word out!  I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support–you have made a difference

• Below you will find the link to some very special people–more to come because we have just gotten started!  Thanks to those of you who purchased the BOOK (number 1 in a series of 5)!  If you want to be added to this list, contact me–would value your input!
