It began with the dream of Christine Lakatos......Christine then partnered with her niece, Amber Garman. Amber, a native Central Coast resident who, wheelchair-bound at 26, is a health & fitness enthusiast helping Christine to her realize her dream.  Amber Garman, Brian Anderson and Scott Martin are Cal Poly alumni who contributed greatly to the completion of My Diva Diet.  

Christine, Amber and Brian then added four others to make this vision complete.  Sean Troeger, a talented local photographer based on the Central Coast, provided the photography for the book; Dr. Harold Segal (30+ year resident), a local neurosurgeon, composed and recorded the DIVA web theme song; and two promising editors 

helped polish each stage of the book along the way: Michelle Ahearn, a current student at Cal Poly, and Dan Port, an editor living in Los Angeles.

Author Bios:  

Creator and Author:  Christine Lakatos, the creator of MY DIVA DIET, is a mother of two daughters, an ACE Certified Fitness Trainer and has been an athlete since the young age of five.  Christine is a retired fitness and bodybuilding competitor including Ms. Fitness USA San Diego 1993, Ms. Fitness USA finalist 1990, Ms. San Luis Obispo 1989, an American Gladiator contestant and more. 

During her competition days, Christine competed with a body-fat percentage as low as 6% and now in her late forties maintains between 12 to 14% body fat year round. She finally sat down long enough to share her “secrets to fat loss and great health” in this 426-page book. 

Contributing Author:  Amber Garman has a passion for health, nutrition, and fitness.  As a young woman in a wheelchair, she particularly understands that learning about proper nutrition is fundamental to health and well-being.  She loves learning about all aspects of the health field, especially cooking, and is always continuing her education in this area.  Amber, also an avid exerciser, knows firsthand the value of what a good diet and an exercise program can do for you physically, emotionally, and mentally.   

After being paralyzed in a car accident, Amber soon realized her body no longer worked and functioned the same way it had before.  With no instruction manual coming with her injury, she began experimenting with all sorts of healthy ingredients, herbs, ways of cooking, and pairing foods.  She soon discovered that her body was functioning with ease, had a much higher level of energy, and her overall appearance was brighter and healthier looking.  The dramatic difference Amber saw and felt between her new diet and her old diet was and is a substantial lifestyle upgrade.
